The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has some parts of North Texas under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday. This is due to 1000 - 1500 j/KG MLCAPE values (Mixed Layer Convective Available Potential Energy) and a upper level low positioned out near Lubbock and across the South Plains of Texas. Dewpoints will be ranging from 50°F to 60°F adding a little more fuel to the fire but not much due to the low available dewpoint temps. SPC is also saying that a few storms may continue into the daylight hours Monday Morning. Then as destabilization occurs in the atmosphere, there will be more storms developing in association with the southeastward oriented Vort Max. (a center, or maximum, in the vorticity field of a fluid.) The major threat with these storms will be large hail. Isolated severe storms will have the threat of producing those downburst winds like we saw this summer. 30-40 (34 - 46 mph)kts shear will make this also a damaging wind threat as well.
